The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking Two Aboriginal Training Consultants within our Workforce and Aboriginal Outcomes team.
This is an Aboriginal designated position, classified under 'special measures' of section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.
About the Business Unit
Workforce and Aboriginal Outcomes lead the design, development, implementation and monitoring of Corrections Victoria policies, programs and services aimed at reducing the over-representation of Aboriginal people within the Victorian correctional system and manage initiatives related to the Safer prisons, Safer People, Safer Communities reform agenda. The division is made up of three teams Workforce Capability and Cultural Reform, Naalamba Ganbu and Nerrlinggu Yilam and Aboriginal Operational Strategic Support. This role sits within the Aboriginal Operational Strategic Support which is responsible for policy, contracts and procurement, governance and secretariat functions and planning and reporting for key programs and services.
About the role:
The Aboriginal Training Consultant is responsible for delivering the “Working with Aboriginal People in Prison" training component for prison officers. This role ensures staff are equipped with the cultural capabilities required to operate effectively within Corrections Victoria's complex environments.
Working within a multi-disciplinary team of consultants, trainers, and administrative staff, you will collaborate closely with the Learning and Capability team throughout the end-to-end learning lifecycle.
This requires a deep understanding of Corrections Victoria's evolving operational needs to design and tailor innovative training delivery approaches.
