About us
Community Correctional Services (CCS) contributes to the safety of the community by applying practices that reduce reoffending and connecting offenders to programs, services and community. CCS provides management of offenders on court orders, serious sex offenders on post sentence supervision and prisoners on parole.
Corrections Victoria understands that to reduce the overrepresentation of Aboriginal people in the justice system and to achieve a reduction in the rate of reoffending, unique strategies and initiatives must be implemented.
About the role
The Aboriginal Professional Practice Adviser supports and develops case management staff to strengthen culturally appropriate practice and build cultural capability across all CCS roles. The role provides guidance to improve staff knowledge of Aboriginal culture and enhance connections to programs and cultural supports for Aboriginal clients. Working with the Manager, Professional Practice, the adviser delivers practice guidance, education, and quality audits to improve outcomes for Aboriginal clients and promote culturally safe workplaces.
Whilst this role is based in Dandenong Justice Service Centre, please note the successful candidate will frequently travel to all office locations within the South Metropolitan Area as needed.
To be successful in this role you will have:
No relevant tertiary qualification is required but experience in dealing with the complex needs of Aboriginal people and community in complex environments and other relevant experience is highly desired.
