About the role
As the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Coordinator for the Northeast Region, you will play a vital role in supporting Parks Victoria's regions and business areas to protect Aboriginal Cultural Heritage (ACH) values by delivering regional operations plans and providing technical specialist advice on ACH identification and protection. This position ensures compliance with the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, builds capacity among staff and partners, and offers strategic guidance for timely responses to ACH matters. Working closely with Registered Aboriginal Parties, Traditional Owner organisations, and other key government stakeholders, the Advisor fosters strong partnerships and actively embeds cultural heritage protection into park management practices, strengthening organisational objectives and safeguarding heritage for future generations.
About the Aboriginal Engagement and Partnerships Division
The Aboriginal Engagement and Partnerships Division provides strategic direction and culturally sound advice to guide Parks Victoria and empower staff to genuinely partner and meaningfully engage with Traditional Owners, including through joint management of parks and reserves.
