About the role
Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive tertiary regional health services in Australia, providing care across primary care, community services, aged care, rehabilitation, mental health, emergency and acute services for more than 500,000 people.
The Medical Administration Registrar position is a senior management and training role within a large, complex regional tertiary referral centre . As Victoria’s largest regional health service, Barwon Health plays a key role in collaboration across the Barwon South West region, including the Barwon South West Public Health Unit.
The role sits within the Office of the Chief Medical Officer and works closely with the Chief Medical Officer and Directors of Medical Services (FRACMA-qualified). It is primarily based at University Hospital Geelong, with opportunities for rotations, project work, and exposure across other Barwon Health sites and regional partner services.
This role provides comprehensive exposure to all aspects of medical administration and leadership, including clinical governance, medical workforce, education, clinical operations, medico-legal matters, change management, service improvement and research governance. It also offers opportunities to contribute to strategic planning and regional health service collaboration.
The position is supported by experienced consultant Medical Administrators, with protected teaching time and access to structured education and professional development. The role is well suited to a senior trainee preparing for Fellowship examination, with flexibility to tailor training and portfolios to RACMA requirements.
