About the role
Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia, providing care across the full spectrum of primary, community, aged care, rehabilitation, mental health, emergency and acute services.
The Surgical Stream Resident (HMO3+) provides a broad and comprehensive experience across a wide range of surgical specialties at University Hospital Geelong. You will rotate through units including Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Emergency, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Surgical Specialties, Plastics, Vascular, Urology, ENT/FMOS/Ophthalmology, ICU and surgical nights.
You will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, working alongside accredited and unaccredited registrars and consultant staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. The role offers opportunities for research, teaching and participation in a dedicated education program for junior surgical doctors. Mentoring from PRESET supervisors is available to support progression into surgical training programs.
Barwon Health’s Surgery Department is collaborative, engaged and committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, promoting positive, respectful relationships and strong multidisciplinary partnerships across the Barwon South West region. As the first regional health service in Australia to offer a public robotic surgical service, there are also opportunities for exposure to robotic assisting.
Participation in general clinical duties, reporting requirements and the after-hours, on-call and recall roster is expected
