About the role
The Diploma of Obstetrics resident provides safe, effective and appropriate medical care under the supervision and direction of senior medical staff. This is a six‑month rotation within Obstetrics & Gynaecology and includes participation in after‑hours, on‑call and recall rosters, as required by the service.
Key responsibilities
• Provide supervised clinical management of obstetric and gynaecological patients across outpatient, inpatient, elective and acute settings, in accordance with delegated clinical privileges and Barwon Health policies and procedures.
• Undertake comprehensive patient assessment, including history taking, clinical examination, formulation of differential diagnoses, appropriate investigation, initiation of treatment, and ongoing review of patient management plans.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support high‑quality patient care, including effective clinical handover, accurate and timely documentation (including medication reconciliation and goals of care), and appropriate escalation to senior clinicians when required.

• Medical qualification with eligibility for appointment as a Hospital Medical Officer
• Demonstrated interest in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and a commitment to patient‑centred care and ongoing clinical learning.
