About the role
Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia, providing care at all stages of life and circumstance across primary care, community services, aged care, rehabilitation, mental health, emergency and acute care to more than 500,000 people.
The Barwon Physician Training Program is a smaller, highly supportive and comprehensive training program designed to progress trainees through Basic Physician Training Years 1–3 and maximise opportunities to progress into their preferred Advanced Training program.
The program consistently achieves results well above state and national averages in both Adult Medicine written and clinical examinations, reflecting the strength of its structured education and support systems.
Trainees benefit from a diverse and well-established education program, strong clinical exposure and close supervision within a supportive learning environment. The program has a strong track record of graduates successfully progressing to specialty training programs, often within Barwon Health.
There are also opportunities for trainees to complete Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine through the Barwon Health network, providing continuity of training within the region for those who wish to remain locally.
You will be part of a highly skilled, professional and dedicated workforce supported by a culture that promotes respect, compassion, commitment, accountability and innovation.
Located in Geelong, you will enjoy a fantastic lifestyle with access to inner city, coastal, suburban and rural living, excellent schools and proximity to the Surf Coast, Bellarine Peninsula and Great Ocean Road.
