SC1. Have the necessary qualifications in First Aid delivery (Level 2 First Aid, anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes training). Nurse qualifications desirable (RN or EN) but not essential.
SC2. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to assume responsibility for ensuring the school adheres to the Department's First Aid for Students and Staff Policy and Guidelines when responding to emergency incidents in an education setting.
SC3. Well-developed communications & interpersonal skills and an ability to work well with students, staff and parents in a polite and courteous manner; whilst maintaining high levels of confidentiality and professional conduct across a range of cultural backgrounds.
SC4. Demonstrated initiative to work efficiently and independently to address student first-aid needs as well as working as part of a team.
SC5. Knowledge of and experience in the daily operations of a busy Sick Bay with the ability to maintain appropriate documentation including record keeping, medical plans, and assessments of students.
Position Summary
To act swiftly, compassionately, efficiently, and effectively in providing the first aid needs to the students and staff of Beveridge Primary School.
Attending to students, staff and others who are in need of treatment for illness or injury, providing accurate assessment and evaluate the best course of action.
Ensure parent/guardians are contacted where necessary.
Administering medication to students as required and record accurately.
Ensure first aid supplies and sick bay supplies are maintained at all times, including checking material and equipment to ensure safe use.
This position is 5 days per week 9am to 3:30pm with a 30 minutes unpaid lunch break. 30 hours per week.
Essential Requirements of the Role
Essential Knowledge
· Medication Endorsement (preferred but not essential)
· Current First Aid /CPR certificate.
· Sound knowledge of Compass and CASES21.
· Valid working with Children Check.
· ASCIA Anaphylaxis verifier certificate.
· Asthma First Aid for schools certificate.

Specific Duties
1. To provide first aid to students and staff at the school, including student toileting requirements where necessary.
2. Dispense medication to students as per medication administration policy with a parent¿s consent.
3. Arrange appropriate storage of medications.
4. Maintain the student medical records / medical action plans on Cases21 and Compass.
5. In consultation with parents, ensure students¿ Individual Anaphylaxis Plans and ASCIA Action Plans are reviewed annually, ensure adrenaline auto injectors are up-to-date and accessible to staff and ensure the completion of an Annual Anaphylaxis Risk Management Checklist.
6. School Anaphylaxis verifier (responsible for assessing staff in the correct use of auto injectors).
7. Prepare student medical alert lists and distribute to staff as required.
8. Manage the ordering of First Aid supplies, and maintain and fill all First Aid kits.
9. Sick Bay budget management
10. Ensure that the correct medication accompanies students involved in school activities.
11. Maintain records of the locations of all medical equipment.
12. Organise and facilitate training in First Aid for all staff including first aid, CPR and anaphylaxis management.
13. Maintain and follow up staff training database for mandatory training requirements according to DET guidelines

From 2026 the campus composition is as follows: Arrowsmith Junior Campus - Foundation & Grade 1 and the Ambrosia Senior Campus - Grade 2 to 6.
