About the role
This is an RANZCR accredited radiology registrar training position commencing in mid-May 2026.
Radiology registrars are expected to provide high quality, timely, appropriate medical imaging services as part of Barwon Health under consultant radiologist supervision. Radiology registrars are expected fulfil the RANZCR requirements for radiology training and complete the assessments required at the various stages of training as per the RANZCR radio-diagnosis training program curriculum. This position provides all the support and opportunities required for completion of the RANZCR curriculum.
Key responsibilities
- Perform and report the range of radiological procedures practised within the Department, i.e. x-ray, fluoroscopy, general and obstetric ultrasound, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine and interventional procedures within your scope of expertise and ability, as well as other commonly performed radiological diagnostic tests. This is the key role of the Medical Imaging department and is carried out under the supervision of a consultant radiologist.
- Actively engage in all training requirements of the RANZCR radio-diagnosis curriculum.
- Appropriate prioritization and protocolling of the imaging requests in the area you are working.
- Provision of afterhours radiology services as required on the roster.
- Liaison as required with referring doctors, other clinicians, radiographers, nursing and clerical staff.
- Attendance at scheduled teaching and learning opportunities.
- Attending clinical-radiological meetings and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Timely completion of appropriate clinical, Barwon health and RANZCR documentation as require.
What we’re looking for
- Basic medical qualifications registrable in the Australia (AHPRA medical registration). These qualifications should be attained by or due to be attained by the commencement date.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a doctor in Australia by end of April 2026.
- Must have a College Registration Verification Number (CRVN) via RANZCR
- Needs to be able to commence the position in mid-May 2026
- Demonstrated interest in a career in radiology
- Appropriate clinical medical experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn
- Excellent communication skills and written and oral English language skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Research skills and experience
- Willingness and ability to participate in the roster for after-hours, on call and recall as required by your unit
